Indication for Use
Compression Fractures (Thoracic & Lumbar Spine)
Stabilizes the spine and prevents further injury.
Osteoporosis-Related Fractures
Reduces strain on weakened vertebrae.
Hyperkyphosis (Excessive Forward Bending of the Spine)
Provides postural correction and support.
Post-Surgical Spinal Immobilization
Helps maintain proper alignment after surgery.
Ankylosing Spondylitis
Supports the spine and reduces pain in inflammatory conditions.
Spinal Tuberculosis (Pott’s Disease)
Assists in stabilizing the spine during treatment.
Traumatic Thoracic/Lumbar Injuries
Restricts excessive spinal movement to allow healing.
Application
1. Prepare the Patient
- Ensure the patient is standing or lying down in a neutral spine position.
- The patient should wear a light, snug-fitting cotton undershirt to prevent skin irritation.
2. Position the Brace on the Body
- Place the back support pad against the lower thoracic spine (mid-back area).
- Align the sternal pad (front upper pad) just below the sternum (breastbone).
- Position the pubic pad on the lower abdomen, just above the pelvis.
3. Adjust and Secure the Brace
- Tighten the side straps (lateral bars) to secure the brace snugly around the torso.
- Ensure the sternal pad and pubic pad provide firm but comfortable pressure to restrict forward bending.
- Adjust the height and fit of the brace to ensure proper spinal alignment.
4. Comfort & Fit Check
- The brace should fit snugly without restricting breathing.
- The sternal and pubic pads should apply firm but comfortable pressure.
- The back pad should rest securely against the spine without excessive pressure points.
- The patient should be able to stand and sit upright comfortably with the brace in place.
